Hey friends, as you might have already heard, we will not be having a book club due to the arrival of Scott’s newest child. We will be back in October though, and Scott has selected a book as part of our semi-annual we-pick-em, where we turn democracy off temporarily and pick the books ourselves. This time around, Scott has selected Mark Z. Danielewski’s wonderfully weird House of Leaves!

Here’s the summary:

A young family moves into a small home on Ash Tree Lane where they discover something is terribly wrong: their house is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside.

Of course, neither Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Will Navidson nor his companion Karen Green was prepared to face the consequences of that impossibility, until the day their two little children wandered off and their voices eerily began to return another story—of creature darkness, of an ever-growing abyss behind a closet door, and of that unholy growl which soon enough would tear through their walls and consume all their dreams.

We’ve wanted to do this book for a while now and this seems like the perfect time. Get reading and we’ll see you at the end of October!

The live-streamed discussion of House of Leaves will occur Friday, October 27th at 9:30 PM Central Time over on our YouTube page. We’ll see you there!
