Last week we announced that our friends over at Media M.D., responsible for bringing you the excellent Deep In Pact podcast were also bringing their media analysis show Media M.D to Doof! If you haven’t checked out either of these shows…do it.
This week we’re so excited to announce that another new show is joining! This time from a whole new source. We are thrilled to welcome “Do the Write Thing” to the Doof! Media Network.
Do the Write Thing is a writing prompt podcast that tasks participants with creating a short story that uses three randomly generated words. The catch: you only have thirty minutes. Each week the hosts write their own stories and discuss what they learned in the process. Listeners can submit their own stories and might get discussed on the show as well.
Some of our more longterm Doofers might think that this sounds very familiar to one of our short-lived podcasting experiments titled “So-Called Writers.” And that’s because, well…it is.
Do the Write Thing hosts Matias Masson and Jarvis Lister approached Matt and I a few months ago saying they loved So-Called Writers and were sad when it stopped being produced. They asked if they could take the concept and create a show of their own. We had always absolutely loved the idea of the show. It fits right in line with what we try to do here at Doof! Media and is the perfect mix of engaging listening and listener participation that we strive for. Unfortunately, between all of our various responsibilities, we just didn’t have time to make it a regular thing. So we were more than happy to hand the reigns off to someone else.
Matias and Jarvis ran with it and created a show that lives up to and surpasses our original idea. As soon as we heard it we knew we needed to get them on the network. We’re thrilled that they agreed. From now on, all episodes of Do The Write Thing (currently releasing Wednesdays) will appear both here on the website as well as the Doof! YouTube channel. There’s going to be a bit of a lag as we slowly transfer their backlog of episodes over so if you can’t wait and need to jump in right away, subscribe to them on Apple Podcasts right now and go follow them on Twitter @WriteThingCast.
