For the first time in the book club’s history, we decided to temporarily take away the power to vote on the books and chose a book ourselves! We realized that while we’ve covered the Fantasy genre a few times, we’ve never gone Sci-Fi. So Matt selected Robert Heinlein’s The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. We know Heinlein is a bit of a controversial author, but that will just lead to some pretty great conversation!
Here’s the Summary from Amazon:
It is a tale of revolution, of the rebellion of the former Lunar penal colony against the Lunar Authority that controls it from Earth. It is the tale of the disparate people–a computer technician, a vigorous young female agitator, and an elderly academic–who become the rebel movement’s leaders. And it is the story of Mike, the supercomputer whose sentience is known only to this inner circle, and who for reasons of his own is committed to the revolution’s ultimate success.
The live-streamed discussion of The Moon is a Harsh Mistress will happen on Friday, April 27th at 9:30 PM Central Time over on our YouTube page. Get the book and get reading! As always, if you’re going to purchase the book through Amazon, we would appreciate it if you do so with the below link. The book will cost exactly the same to you, but it will help support Daly Planet Productions!
Although we picked the book this month, we’ll be returning that power to our Patrons in May. Which means…we need more submissions! Head on over to our handy new Google Form and tell s what you want us to read. Fill it out once, twice or however often you want. We’re always looking for some great book recommendations!
